GIG ARCHIVE:
CANCELLED - Sunrise Celebration 2008 Festival, Somerset
Sat, 31 May 2008, at 20:30Sadly due to extreme flash-flooding at the festival site this event was cancelled at the last minute. Anyone who's seen the horrific pictures of the aftermath of the flooding will understand why the decision was made to stop the festival going ahead. If you bought a ticket to the festival visit the Sunrise web site for refund/exchange options.
Here's a recent message from the organisers:
Dear all,
Thank you for your patience while the Sunrise team have been all hands on deck, clearing and cleaning up the site of what we all feel turned out to be the best festival that never was. An incredible crew worked round the clock dealing with what was obviously, to say the least, a rather harsh hand dealt from the man upstairs. Sitting right at the epicenter of what turned out to be one of the worst flash floods Somerset has seen in recent history, leaving Shepton Mallet with a river running through it's high street and many other neighboring villages up to their necks in a similar state of devastation, our luck just wasn't in last weekend. (See below for more details on what happened)
And check out Gunghomedia's wonderful little film report from the field of this year's Sunrise

Many thanks to Paul, Brian and the whole Gungho team for this
We are so sorry to anyone who tried to make it to Sunrise and never did, and to all those who got wet and exhausted in the process, only to get turned away.
To all those of you who bought tickets
We are honouring all tickets purchased to Sunrise 2008, and there are a few options for ticket purchasers. If you can take us up on any offer other than a refund it would help us out immensely as we would love to continue this beautiful event.
Your options are
1, Take a ticket to Sunrise at The Big Chill.
2, Hold on to your ticket till Sunrise 2009 which is definitely going ahead on higher ground!
3, Get your refund from the ticket agent minus the 10% service charge as outlined in the terms and conditions. A refund is possible right up until Sunrise 2009 from the ticket agents. However if you can avoid doing this it would assist us immensely.
